For many of us, art is in our vains. It runs through our bodies as a life elixer. No idea how to live without it.
It is a way for me to connect to others. I met a lot of great people through sharing art and experiences.
My two best friends for the last years of highschool (
marlotjee henriekeboer) are the ones I made the best art with.
Then there is DeviantArt, the magic place where I met a lot of friends. I can't even imagine how many and from how many different countries.
One of them was Anthony
ams1992, I met him because he reacted on an offer to draw some portraits for free.
After I finished it, we kept in touch over facebook. He in the center of America, I in the Netherlands. But it was a friend I felt very close to.
We talked about life, about the good and the bad and everything inbetween. A kind of friend that asked how you were doing, but sincerely didn't want to hear 'ok'.
He himself was a great artist in music, drawing and game design. The things he made had so much emotion in them, you could relate with it (and therefore with him) intensely.
As you might have noticed from the past tense I was using, past Friday I got the news that my great friend has passed away.
I live so far away, but it never felt that way, untill now.
The picture I made is used at his memorial service. I still can't believe I pictured him that well, and it is a great honor that I can kind of be there for him.
I will be listening to his music for the rest of my life, to remember myself of the friendship we had through the interest in art we shared.
To the ones who read this I want to say, cherrish your friends, don't be afraid to meet people here on DeviantArt, and keep sharing the art we all love so much.
sweet Anthony, you will be missed
